Different organisations in the city of Hamburg have come together to form "Hamburg Focus South Africa". In the run up to the next World Cup in South Africa they provide a wide range of information and activity for the general public in Hamburg about the country and its people. Looking beyond the playing fields will involve taking a closer look at living conditions, cultural, political, economic and social development.
By aiming to provide for an understanding of the complexity of current issues in South Africa, "Hamburg Focus South Africa" hopes to capture the interest of the German public for development issues at large. Events in Hamburg will focus on global developments and dependencies in relation to South Africa. They will concentrate on cultural diversity as well as showing the potential and problems this country is dealing with.
